Introducing Tevyans Kernow, a pilot support programme between Crowdfunder and Creative UK, created for creative businesses to bridge their growth, enable socially impactful activity and provide a return for Cornwall.

Five businesses have been selected for the initiative: JamUp!, Newlyn School of Art, Sterts Art & Environmental Centre, 606 Distribution and One Blue Eye.

“Creative UK Cornwall are excited to be partnering with Crowdfunder on Tevyans Kernow. The selected businesses all have innovative campaigns with Cornish community, environment and stories at their heart.

At Creative UK, we want to provide a platform for creative businesses to grow and thrive, exploring all of the routes to investment. This support programme enables ambitious crowdfunding targets to come to fruition with increased visibility and access to new audiences. We selected the businesses on their strong story, social impact and size of business – choosing to help founders with much smaller teams or less public funding. We are confident that the donations received will also provide a catalyst for the business’s growth and economic return for Cornwall.” Suzie West

The projects hope to benefit from the existing Crowdfunder audience giving to Cornish Projects via the platform:

  • 2339 people have pledged nearly £7M to projects in Cornwall.
  • 809 people have pledged more than £1k, averaging £3.4k each and totalling £2.7m.
  • Their 2021 ‘Cornwall Calling’ cultural campaign achieved over £500k of pledges, generating £3 of additional income to every £1 pledged by Cornwall Council.

The announcement follows a recent Creative UK and Crowdfunder initiative which enables creative crowdfunding projects to be set up with 0% platform fees – you can learn more here.
