Creative UK Cornwall

The Creative UK Cornwall Programme ran from 2021 to June 2023. Over the last two years we have met with over 100 businesses and supported over 70 companies through a variety of online webinars, bootcamps, training courses and one-to-one mentoring. Read our full executive summary here.

We saw Erica Wolfe-Murray (Lola Media) lead a Simple Tips, Smart Ideas short course, Dr Angus Finney host a course on telling and selling for the screen, and Alison Norrington (storycentral) run a Brand Bootcamp; with several more experts, such as Jake Birkett (Grey Alien Games), Exitus Ab Productions and Hannah Wood (Story Juice) featuring in our online Stand Out in Games series.

We hosted several events across the county, with the Creative Coalition Festival in February of 2022 set in Cornwall’s renowned Eden Project Rainforest Biome. We also filmed our ‘Remain a Rebel & Grow Your Business’ session against the stunning backdrop of Carbis Bay at the Ugly Butterfly Restaurant, that later appeared on the summit stage of the Creative Coalition Festival in 2023. Our latest – and last – event was held at the Plaza Cinema, Truro, shining a spotlight on the screen industries, on the big screen.

Resources and Case Studies

Below is a selection of some of our favourite discussions and case studies that we captured during the course of the programme. From the Eden Project in St Austell to the Ugly Butterfly in Carbis Bay, these talks look at sustainability, the games industry, the future of immersive and business growth. The four case studies included here are only a small glimpse into how Creative UK Cornwall have been able to support Cornwall’s Screen Sector and wider Creative Industries in different ways through the delivery of the ERDF funded programme. We hope you enjoy them!

About the programme

The programme launched in May 2021 with a one-day Cornwall x Connectivity online event, which saw 23 speakers from across the Creative Industries talk about everything from hub working, to sustainability and innovation.

We saw the Creative Coalition Festival in February of 2022 take place in Cornwall’s renowned Eden Project Rainforest Biome, see more details below. To date we have supported over 60 companies, through business support webinars, finance training courses and mentoring.

In June, Erica Wolfe-Murray led a Simple Tips, Smart Ideas short course for small creative companies in Cornwall. Until the end of September, we have Dr Angus Finney leading a course on telling and selling for the screen, focusing on the early stage demands and challenges for content creators.
