Creative UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Turner Laing as its first Commercial Director.

Forming a key part of the organisation’s Executive Leadership Team, Laura’s role is focused on delivering long-term, sustainable partnerships that align with Creative UK’s strategic priorities: to connect creative people, invest in creative businesses, and support creative ideas while championing the power and value of the Creative Industries.

Prior to joining Creative UK, Laura has worked for a broad range of organisations in the Creative Industries, including Disney, Discovery, Fremantle and the London 2012 Olympic Games Committee.

Through these roles, she has developed and deployed strategic partnerships across a wide range of Creative Industries, including TV, music, video games and print publishing, as well as in the education sector.

During her most recent position at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, as the Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships, she delivered revenues traversing corporate membership, sponsorship, and grants.

Laura comes from a creative background, and in past lives, has managed music artists and producers and freelanced in tour production.

She currently lives in southwest London with her daughter, a cat, and a tank full of molly fish.

Commenting on the appointment, Caroline Norbury OBE, Chief Executive at Creative UK, said: “We are delighted to have Laura join the team at what is a very exciting and critical period for our organisation. Her wealth of experience at several giants in the Creative Industries, as well as the success she has generated for cross-sector, creative causes, are huge assets to Creative UK and will be instrumental for us moving forward.

“I am particularly looking forward to working closely with Laura as we ramp up activity around the Creative UK Manifesto. Ahead of the UK General Election, we’re looking to take our asks to stakeholders, partners and audiences up and down the country, and will be working with partners to amplify the voices of the Cultural and Creative Industries right across the UK.”

Laura Turner Laing commented: “I am delighted to have joined Creative UK to work alongside the hard-working and truly dedicated team to further galvanise support of the Creative Industries through long-term and sustainable strategic partnerships.

“Off the recent launch of Creative UK’s Manifesto, I’m looking to connect with supporters aligned with our six priorities to ensure the long-term growth and stability of the cultural and creative sector, in particular to reduce barriers to entry and prioritising creative skills and education.”
