Today, as part of the Government’s funding boost announcement, it has been announced that seventeen start-up video games studios have been given grants of up to £25,000 to realise their ideas for innovative new projects as part of the UK Games Fund.

Creative UK’s CEO, Caroline Norbury OBE, responds to today’s announcement:

‘The UK’s games industry is a creative and economic success story. The support provided by the UK Games Fund is vital to early-stage games businesses, allowing them to create innovative, commercially viable prototypes, and it’s fantastic to see the latest studios and projects announced and the government’s ongoing support for the sector’.

It also marks an exciting day for two of our games accelerator and foundation cohort members, Fairer Game and Two Headed Alien, who are successful recipients of the announced grants.

Robin Milton, founder of Fairer Games, based in Norwich and participant in Creative UK’s Creative Enterprise’s Foundation Progamme said:

‘It is fantastic to see this level of commitment to supporting early-stage creative businesses in this region from DCMS. I founded my games business in Norfolk because I firmly believe in the innovation, the collaboration, and the culture of this area. The Create Growth Programme will help in providing opportunities, retaining talent and accessing finance for creative businesses in this area and I look forward to seeing the positive ripple effects of this initiative.’
