Discover! Creative Careers Week returns for 2024

Join us in sparking the imagination of the upcoming generation by sharing with them (either virtually or in person!) your wisdom and passion, offering guidance on how to navigate a career path within the creative industries.

We’re inviting employers to sign up to Discover! Creative Careers Week from today via the dedicated website.

Navigating a career in the creative industries can feel daunting without a clear entry point. That’s why Discover! Creative Careers is here—to shed light on the myriad opportunities available to young people aged 11-18, igniting their passion and ensuring a more diverse pool of talent enters these industries. With funding from DCMS and support from Arts Council England, our England-wide program aims to demystify career pathways in the creative sector.

We’re calling on employers in the creative industries to join us for this year’s Discover! Creative Careers Week (Monday 18th – Friday 22nd November 2024). Your involvement can make a significant difference in shaping the future of our industries.

You could:

  • Take part in the #discovercreativecareers campaign and showcase your existing careers resources
  • Use the week to launch new career offers and programmes for young people (see One Dance UK 2023)
  • Introduce the different roles and pathways available in your sector by hosting a careers talk or Q+A with staff from different departments (online or in-person)
  • Visit a school to give a talk in assembly
  • Open your workplace up for local school and college tours (see Shakespeare North Playhouse 2023)
  • Host a workshop or activity that demonstrates the skills needed for a role in your sector (see RIBA 2023)
  • Get in touch with Speakers for Schools and volunteer to host an online session as part of the virtual Discover! Creative Careers Week 2024

Past employers who have been involved include National Trust, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Pinewood Studios, Northern Ballet & Phoenix Dance Theatre, Channel 4, Norwich Theatre Royal, Birmingham Museums Trust, Cockpit Arts, the Financial Times, Kudos TV, The National Archives, xsite Architecture, Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Colston Hall, Burberry and Hachette Publishing, plus many more.
