About this event:

Are you a woman working in the creative industries in Greater Manchester? Are you looking to learn more about running your business, find out how to get investment ready or secure funding, meet like-minded local creatives and foster connection, collaboration and growth? Then look no further than Creative UK Manchester’s latest fully-funded workshop this May.

EmpowerHer is an unmissable free workshop aimed at anyone based in the Greater Manchester Region and identifying as a women looking for professional insight into thriving and excelling in the fast-paced creative industries.

The workshop programme will comprise of 8 eye-opening sections that will be covered over two days:

  • Accessing Funding, Investment and Finance as an entrepreneur
  • Business planning for growth
  • Structuring Teams & Hiring Talent
  • Leadership – How to navigate as a woman at the top
  • Branding/Marketing
  • Balancing work and family life
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Collaboration & Building a support network

When and Where:

The in-person workshop will be taking place over two full days on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th May 2023 at Chamber Space, Elliot House, 151 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3WD

Catering: Refreshments and lunch will be provided on both days.

 

About the Course Leaders:

Naomi Timperley:

Naomi Timperley is the Co Founder of Tech North Advocates and We Are GSI Ltd, and has devoted the last 10 years to scale-ups, startups, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital skills. She is an award winning consultant with vast experience of working with accelerators, incubators and other startup/growth support programs in the UK and beyond, particularly within tech, digital and creative.

Named in both the Computer Weekly Most Influential Women list in UK IT 2018, 2019, 2020, 3rd most influential woman in 2021 and 4th in 2022, she is an experienced growth and innovation consultant with established relationships across the UK.

Alongside 10 years of mentoring experience she is also an Honorary Industry Fellow at the University of Salford Business School and on the board of the Industry Advisory Board (Chair from 2019-2023). She also sits on the board of the charity Digital Inc, VocalEyes Democracy CIC and Social Enterprise PIE, and was previously Chair of Future Everything.

 

Maria Mander:

Maria Mander is the Founder of ‘Mander Wellbeing’ providing Wellbeing Consultancy to SME’s and large corporate companies across the UK to create a culture of wellness for healthy, engaged and high performing employees.

As a wellbeing leader in the marketplace, her insights are regularly seen through her writing, podcasts and speaking engagements at events, as well as being a guest panellist. She has been a judge for the UK Company Culture Awards and Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Awards. Currently, Maria is Co-Chair of Pro Manchester’s Wellbeing Champions Committee. She was an award winner on the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator Programme in recognition of her outstanding commitment.

Places are limited and therefore participants must be able to commit to both dates outlined above. The deadline for registrations is on Friday 12th May at 4pm. Places on this workshop will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (subject to eligibility criteria).

 

Eligibility Criteria:

Due to funding restrictions, to be eligible to apply, you must be:

– Based in or trading in Greater Manchester

– A registered SME or freelancer with the ability to produce your companies house registration number or UTR (Unique Trading Reference) number

– Employ fewer than 250 staff

– Turning over less than €50m

 

About the Programme:

This Intensive workshop is brought to you by Creative UK: Manchester – a programme designed to provide specialist support to SME’s, sole traders and start-ups across the whole creative sector who are based in the Greater Manchester region with the aim of supporting the businesses at every stage of their journey. The programme is fully funded through the European Regional Development Fund and the programme is delivered in partnership with Manchester Growth Hub and Northern Powerhouse.
