Peaky Blinders’ returns on October 2nd at 9pm on BBC2. Set in Birmingham, the series follows the exploits of a notorious gangster family who make their money from the black market, illegal betting and protection rackets.
Starring Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), with support from Helen McCrory (Hugo,) and Paul Anderson (The Sweeney); the gang, famous for sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, have ideas of moving up in the world in 1920’s post-war England.
The production was filmed extensively across Central Liverpool, Greater Manchester and the West Midlands and received significant support from Creative England who assisted with filming on location and finding local crew and facilities. Our Production Services team were on hand during early pre-production to assist producers at Tiger Aspect & Caryn Mandabach Productions find the necessary studio base/production office space. Together, the team decided upon Roundthorn Studios which was previously used by the hit TV series ‘Shameless’.

The opening episode of the second series premiered in Birmingham on Sunday 21st September, with some of the stars gracing the red carpet including Cillian Murphy, Helen McCrory, as well as the show’s Birmingham-born creator Steven Knight.
Where was BBC Two drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ series 2 filmed?
Streets in Greater Manchester and Liverpool doubled for Birmingham in many iconic scenes featured in ‘Peaky Blinders’ series 2. Keep an eye out for filming locations such as Liverpool’s Rodney Street, Great Howard Street and Dale Street, Stanley Park as well as Stanley docks which were all used by the production. Filming also took place at Manchester Town Hall, the famous Victoria Baths and Bolton’s Le Mans Crescent was used to double for 1920s Central London.
As well as the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port doubling as Camden Town Docks, other iconic locations used included the Black Country Living Museum in the West Midlands and Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.
The production also shot in and around Macclesfield, St Helens, Bakewell, Wilmslow, Irlam and Bradford.
