Creative Enterprise is excited to announce the new Market Trader cohort for 2021/22! The 12 participants are embarking on an intensive business development programme to help them take their projects to markets across the world.

International film markets are a great opportunity for film professionals to make contacts, present their projects and negotiate deals setting the landscape of their future business. Market Trader equips participants with the knowledge and support they need to understand the film market better, to plan and target their approach and come away from international markets with the best possible results.

The programme will be delivered through a combination of intensive workshops, mentoring, market attendance & networking. The programme will consider and contrast differing needs and perspectives from all parts of the film value chain – makers, buyers, sellers – and hone skills in pitching, negotiating & closing deals.

Meet this years Market Trader cohort:

Rachel GoldBay Horse Pictures

Rachel Gold is a Kent and East Sussex based producer who previously left a successful career in publishing to pursue a life-long dream to tell stories through film. She began her journey studying as a full-time mature student at London College of Communications in Film, TV and Live Events and worked her way up the ladder taking on various roles in production to arm herself with skills, tools and experience.

Rachel has since produced a wide range of short form content from corporate to commercials for the likes of Samsung, NBCU, Tesco, Nintendo, Nestle Purina and international animal charity PDSA. Short films include; Carol directed by Jo Southwell, two shorts for the BBC New Creatives (ScreenSouth) and Vernon Walks, a Morena Films production for Paramount TV. Rachel has also worke

d with Working Title, produced a feature for Templeheart Films and the live action (for animation) sequence in the acclaimed feature documentary Coup 53.

A recipient of the John Brabourne Award, Rachel was selected for the 2021 Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab and most recently participated in Film London’s Production Finance Market. She set up Bay Horse Pictures to produce her own projects and currently has an exciting slate of ambitious international film and TV projects, which are based on true stories, existing IP and original material.

Terri Dwyer Buffalo Dragon

Terri Dwyer has been on the big and small screen for nearly 30 years. Her vast contribution to the entertainment industry has meant her progression into producing has been a natural one. Her first project as a producer saw the writer go on to be nominated for a prestigious Laurence Olivier Award. Terri produced feature films ‘The Stranger in our Bed,’ based on a USA Today best-selling book by the same name, and Bolan’s Shoes, both projects under the Buffalo Dragon banner.

Buffalo Dragon is an independent television and film production company telling diverse and original stories and bringing talent together from arounds the world.

At a time which saw other productions shut down, Buffalo Dragon shot 2 feature films at the height of the global pandemic in their first year in business proving they have the capability to deliver. The second film, with an award-winning team including Bafta nominated actor Timothy Spall, BAFTA nominated and BIFA winning editor Chris Gill and BAFTA nominated and RTS winning writer Ian Puleston- Davies.

Yi HuGFM Film Sales

GFM Film Sales is a London based film company founded in 2011 whose principal aim is to develop, produce, finance and sell independent movies and television films & series. GFM’s founding team have been in the UK film business for over 30 years and have been involved in the development & release of over 250 movies and TV series. GFM Film Sales is one of the UK’s leading production, financing & sales partnerships.

Karen NewmanHidden Door Productions

Karen is an award-winning producer from the UK who moved in to producing following a highly successful career in Global Events Management in the City of London. Her former training as an actor combined with her exceptional organisational skills and financial acumen make her an outstanding Creative Producer. Her debut feature film, Just Charlie, has achieved critical acclaim around the world and won many awards including the prestigious Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and most recently the Grand Prix in the Ecran Juniors in Cannes 2019. It has been sold to many territories internationally including Amazon in the USA and most recently to SKY cinema in the UK. 

Millie MarshKin Pictures

Millie is a BAFTA-nominated producer, trained at the National Film and Television School. Her short films have been in competition at Cannes and have won multiple awards at international festivals.

 She was nominated for a BAFTA in 2017 for ‘The Alan Dimension’ and longlisted for a second BAFTA in 2020 for ‘Dọlápọ̀ Is Fine’ which was acquired by Netflix. Her latest short ‘Knot’ premiered at LA Shorts in 2021 and has its UK premiere in the international competition at Encounters Film Festival.

Millie established Kin Pictures in 2021 where she is developing feature projects including ‘Hitchhikers’ with international sales by Bankside Films. This year she is producing Pixar-style animation ‘Roots’ for animation studio SystemKind using cutting-edge motion capture technology to create a carbon-neutral film. She also enjoys nurturing new talent through teaching and mentoring on the BFI Film Academy and for Screen Skills. 

Chris LaneLeapling Films

Chris Lane is a Producer at Manchester based production company, Leapling Films. Credits as a Producer include the short films ‘A Father’s Day’ and ‘Inertia’. The former screened at 160 film festivals and received 4 million views online whilst the latter recently won Best Drama Short at Out On Film, making it eligible for the 2022 Academy Awards. Chris is currently developing a slate of feature films under Leapling Films with a focus on stories set in the regions.

He is a member of The Production Guild of Great Britain and a proud leap year baby.

Nadia JaynesLittle Monk Pictures

Nadia Jaynes has over 20 years experience working across all genres of film and television. From feature films to HETV, children’s television, comedy, documentary and structured reality. Her vast cross-genre experience has allowed her to build an enviable network of A-list on and off-screen talent on a national and global level. Prior to establishing Little Monk Pictures Nadia has facilitated national and global co-productions.

Little Monk Pictures is a new female led, Manchester based production company, established in 2020 by Executive Producer Nadia Jaynes. The company was launched to provide a platform for diverse regional talent both on and off screen. The company produces Drama, Comedy, Documentary and corporate content for a global audience.

Jamie GamacheLowkey Films

Jamie co-founded Lowkey Films in 2013 and started producing successful festival shorts including Infinite (starring George Mackay) & Sandpaper (funded by the BFI, nominated for Best UK Short at Raindance 2020). Alongside this, the company has produced music videos & commercials for it’s roster of directors with clients including Adidas, Sony, Mastercard and big name artists including Dave, Stormzy, James Arthur & Mabel.

Jamie is now developing a diverse slate of features the first of which, Kindling  (produced with Mark Foligno – The Kings Speech, Moon) currently in post-production. Other projects on the slate include horror-thriller  Tender Omens  (co-production with Independent Film Sales) and a British-Chinese co-production titled  Hidden Under Moss  which was selected for the Bridging the Dragon co-production lab in 2019. Here he won a prize to attend the Hainan Island International Film Festival project market in China. His documentary works include the hotly anticipated  Dear Future Children, which has just won the audience award at Hot Docs in Canada with worldwide sales being handled by Magnet Film.

Chloe ChudasamaNocturnal Pictures

Chloe is a film producer at Nocturnal Pictures. Having worked as a Project Manager for over 10 years at one of the UK’s leading PR and live event companies, Chloe has managed some of the world’s leading businesses on their campaigns, such as Sony Pictures, XBOX, General Electric and adidas.
Having managed live award shows and events, Chloe’s numerous PR stunts and photo calls have seen her promoting large scale movies at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for Sony Pictures (Titles include The Angry Birds 1 & 2, The Shallows, Hotel Transylvania 3 and Spiderman: into the Spider-Verse).  Transitioning her skills from events into film production, Chloe has produced three short films and her debut feature “The Last Rite” which is due for US release on the 26th November 2021 with Samuel Goldwyn Films.

Its Chloe’s shared vision with Writer/Director and owner of Nocturnal Pictures – Leroy Kincaide, to build a slate of movies under the company brand Nocturnal Pictures and create a leading production company that stands to ensure all motion pictures have viability for success and execution for the commercial

Aneet NijjarOther Parties Film Company

Aneet is the Director of Distribution of newly launched creative distribution company Other Parties.  

 

She began her career as a trainee at international sales agent Protagonist Pictures and then ventured into the world of film distribution, PR and marketing, working as a freelancer for the likes of Dogwood, Parkland Pictures, BFI and many more. 

 

Realising the UK distribution landscape needed a new voice and energy, she set up Other Parties in mid-2020 with the aim of releasing carefully thought-out titles, and to challenge long-standing industry norms with authenticity and vibrancy. They released their first film, Elegance Bratton’s critically acclaimed documentary ‘Pier Kids’ in October 2021.

We are Black and Brown film professionals who have worked for various independent distributors, broadcasters, exhibitors, festivals, sales and PR companies over the past five years. Our aims are ambitious yet intimate, different yet unified, and fluid yet strong, and we hope to bring something different to cinema.

Dominique UnsworthResource Productions

A Producer for more than 21 years, Dom has made 100+ films, producing short commissions for the likes of BBC and Channel 4 through not-for-profit Resource Productions CIC.

She produced a Creative England iShort by BAFTA-nominated Writer/Director Myriam Raja, has had numerous films selected by BAFTA-accredited festivals including Underwire, IRIS, Bolton and London Short Film Festival.  Most recently ‘The Deranged Marriage’ by Pravesh Kumar (who is writing and directing her first feature), has been selected by BUFF 2021. Dom is founder of Berkshire Film Office, a member of BAFTA and fellow of the RSA.

Founded in 1999, Resource Productions has organically grown its’ creative production team, associate Writers and Directors and slate of shorts, features and interactive projects – from the grass-roots up. We’ve received industry accolades including Thames Valley Tech Connect ‘Changemaker’, Creative England ‘CE50’ and numerous nominations from BAFTA-accredited film festivals.

Currently in post-production with their first feature, romantic comedy ‘Little English’ by Pravesh Kumar, the company holds open-access project submissions and has 80+ projects in various stages of development and production.

Steve LennonVloop

To date, Steve has primarily worked as a Producer within Corporate, Advertising and Non-Scripted Television. Originally as a freelancer on shows including THE X FACTOR and BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT, then through his production company, Vloop. With Vloop he’s produced a variety of content including BTS for AMC TV Shows McMAFIA and THE TERROR, and branded films for Buzzfeed with clients including Amazon, Lego, BMW and Sky TV.

In scripted, he’s produced (and wrote/direct) two short films, DEATH DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, which premiered at the East End Film Festival, and MY FIRST TIME, which was shortlisted for the reed.co.uk Short Film Competition. Most recently he worked as Production Manager for Screen South on the BBC Arts/ACE New Creatives scheme. Since starting in 2019, he’s overseen the production of 20+ short films and 40+ audio projects which have been broadcast on BBC TV & Radio, Online and at festivals worldwide.

Vloop is a hybrid production company working within branded and advertising, as well as developing a small slate of projects for Broadcast (TV/SVOD) and Theatrical distribution.
