The new cohort join over 80 businesses that have previously received support through the programme, who have gone on to raise over £2m in investment.
26 West Midlands-based creative businesses have been selected to take part in stage two of the investment readiness programme, which has been designed to support creative businesses to explore and secure commercial investment opportunities.
The businesses came together for the first time this month, as they begin a six-month programme of tailored workshops, one-to-one mentoring, and opportunities to connect with investors.
The programme is delivered by Creative UK and funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority. The programme is funded through a wider £25m package of growth support for the creative industries in the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) area to help businesses to innovate, upskill and attract private investment, as part of the Government’s Creative Places Growth Fund.
The first workshop took place at Midlands Arts Centre, where businesses explored investment readiness, gained insights from founders who have successfully secured investment and from investors, and participated in a values-led leadership session with speakers including Tamara Gal-On and Tim McSweeney.
