We exist to champion and support the creative sector, advocating every day for positive change on the issues that matter – such as access to finance, strengthened creative education and the protection of creative IP.  

As the only UK network spanning all creative and cultural subsectors, we have a unique convening power. Our membership contains world-leading organisations from sectors as diverse as advertising, animation, architecture, broadcasting, crafts, design, digital, education, fashion, games, heritage, museums, music, performing arts, photography, publishing, theatre, TV, trade bodies, visual art and more.

Creative UK exists to celebrate the cultural and creative industries, connect creatives from across the country – and call for change on the issues which matter to the sector.

Policy and Research

Policy and Research

Creative UK represents the cultural and creative industries with one united voice, holding government to account and influencing change.  Our dedicated Policy and Research team work closely across DCMS (the Department for Culture, Media and Sport), DBT (Department for Business and Trade) and HMT (Her Majesty’s Treasury). Our Chief Executive, Caroline Norbury OBE, is a member of the UK Government’s Creative Industries Sector Plan Taskforce.  

 

Benefits include: 

  • Policy & Research Weekly Briefing. Emailed to members and housed on our Members Area, the briefing provides a sector-wide, granular read-out of key policy developments, industry news and research. 
  • Quarterly Stats Bulletin. This member-exclusive bulletin is a powerful advocacy tool that offers up-to-date insights from the across the sector – measuring everything from GVA to employment. 
  • Contribute to sector-wide consultations. Our Policy team work closely with the UK Government on sector-wide consultations and our members have the opportunity to contribute evidence, data and case studies where appropriate. 
  • Support for press responses and political engagement. For members in Gold Tier and above, our Policy team offer additional and/or aligned support for press responses and political engagement on the issues which matter to you. 
  • Bespoke consultation with the Policy team. In Platinum Tier and above, we offer a bespoke support to help you map out your organisation’s strategic objectives.

Events and Networking

We’re proud to be the convener of the sector – connecting the dots between the people who make creative work and the people that support it. From large-scale conferences to intimate roundtables and workshops, we convene hundreds of events every year. Around 40% of those are exclusively for members, who receive: 

 

  • Discounts to ticketed Creative UK events – including our flagship Big Creative UK Summit (discounts start at 25% discount, tier-dependant)  
  • Access to networking and changemaking conversations where applicable – such as our Creative Leaders Breakfasts, Creative Conversations, Trade Body Network, UK Council, and Comms and Policy Forum. 
  • Speaking opportunities – including the panels, roundtables and receptions which matter to our sector.

For members who offer courses or skills-based programmes, we provide unlimited memberships for your students lasting for the programme’s duration and three years after completion. 

 

All student and early career members receive:  

  • Access to our early career portal– a curated hub of expert resources designed to support transition into the creative industries. This includes our exclusive on-demand video library featuring, career-defining talks and insights. 
  • A regular programme of cross-sector events– connecting students with industry professionals. These sessions offer practical advice on breaking into the industry, alongside interactive Q&As to provide deeper insight into navigating a creative career or applying creative skills across the wider economy. 
  • Opportunities for paid writing commissions- where students can respond to live briefs with support from the Creative UK team. Final pieces are published with national exposure, offering valuable experience to support professional development and build portfolios.
