Newlyn Art School

Newlyn is no stranger to creative expression. Tapping into the region’s string artistic heritage,  Newlyn Art School is swiftly becoming a vibrant hub that’s helping artists advance their skills through in-person and online learning resources.

Calling on the knowledge and talents of over thirty of the most respected artists working in Cornwall today, Newlyn Art School has built a reputation as a high-quality training and mentoring resource for artists worldwide. Originally opening its doors for the first time in September 2011, the school blends the strong sense of Newlyn’s artistic history, the beauty of the local landscape – with many of its classes taking place on the dramatic cornish coastline – and online innovation to help to strike out and reach more audiences. With recent capital investment, the school has entered a new stage reaching a global audience, offering  innovative online art courses and enjoying over 100k subscribers worldwide.

How did Newlyn Art School evolve over the programme?

During the past year, Newlyn Art School has been busy developing a mentorship programme backed by sponsorship and private investment. Their aim is to help fortify West Cornwall’s reputation for excellence in visual arts and contemporary practice. Fruitful partnerships with the Cornish Camera Company, Jacksons and Leach Pottery are all helping Newlyn Art School achieve this goal, vastly expanding its customer base, and building on the retail growth potential for courses.
